History
Green Store was founded in December of 2008 by 2008-09 Associated Students of Stanford University (ASSU) Sustainability Chair Elaine Albertson and her cabinet team: Susie Choi, Eric Knudson, and Jeffrey Sweet. It has been in operation ever since, and under then ASSU President Jonny Dorsey and VP Fagan Harris's guidance, it became a part of the ASSU Student Services Division, which was established in 2009.
Over the course of the 2009-10 academic school year, its first full year in operation, Green Store sold 58,000 recyclable cups (its pilot product) to students on Stanford's campus. During this time the store also increased its product offerings, adding Ecos laundry detergent, Smart power strips, and portable silverware sets to its product line.
In May of 2012, Green Store established a partnership with Green Events Consulting because of the many commonalities between the two organizations, as well as their shared audience in terms of outreach efforts. The store also revamped its operations and internal systems to increase the efficiency of its delivery system and online order process, improving the overall customer experience.
