Are recyclable cups better?
vs. red cups:
Your typical red party cup is plastic #6, which cannot be recycled on campus and therefore ends up in a landfill. But our clear cups are plastic #1, which means that they can be reused if recycled properly with bottles and cans.
vs. compostable cups:
The ideal single use cup is compostable and is composted after being used. However, as compostable cups use more energy to make then recyclable cups, compostables that are thrown away to the landfill are actually worse for the environment then plastic cups that are thrown away. If your event location does not have access to composting bins or facilities, we would recommend purchasing recyclable cups and relying on established recycling infrastructure.
